Unsure how to read your Bluebonnet electric bill? Click here to view a sample of your electric bill and understand what it consists of.
So, what magic formula does Bluebonnet use to conjure
up your monthly electric bill total? Nothing magical about
it. Here’s how we calculate a residential electric bill:
- The number of kilowatt hours (kWh) used, multiplied by
a base rate factor of 0.080353,
plus
- the number of kWh used, multiplied by the power cost
recovery factor (the PCRF varies with the cost of producing
wholesale power and is shown on your bill),
plus
- a monthly member charge of $17.50.
Example:
You used 1,000 kWh for the month, and the current PCRF is
0.000.
|
1,000 kWh x 0.080353= |
$80.35 |
|
1,000 kWh x 0.000= |
$0.00 |
|
member charge= |
$17.50 |

|

|

|
|
|
$97.85 |
|
Your electric bill would total $97.85.

Want to know how we calculate electric bills for non-residential
members? We’re happy to explain it; just call 800.842.7708 or visit your local member service center.
The member charge – covers the cost of meter
reading, billing, postage, payment processing and member services;
An energy charge, which consists of a power
supply charge and a distribution charge
– the power supply charge recovers the cost of purchasing
power, while the distribution (or wires) charge covers the
operating costs for delivering power; and
A PCRF charge, when necessary – covers
the extra cost of power not recovered through the energy charge,
and is a dollar-for-dollar pass-through to our members.
