About AMR
AMR works through a module, located within the electric
meter, which transfers information from the meter through
the power lines to a net server. The net server uses the information
to create profiles for each member account, which will include
daily meter readings, meter voltage, etc.
With AMR, transferring information from all of Bluebonnet’s
74,000 or so electric meters to the net server will take a
total of about four hours. Meters will be programmed to transfer
information overnight, typically between midnight and 5 a.m.
Bluebonnet examined about a dozen AMR programs nationwide
before selecting the TWACS system. This system has been operating
since 1985 and is the largest power-line AMR system within
the U.S. It’s both extremely reliable and cost-effective,
and has a high rate of customer satisfaction.
