Meter Loops
At your new service appointment, Bluebonnet will
provide you with the proper meter loop specifications and
riser length.
Bluebonnet members now have two options to purchase a pole mounted
single phase residential 200 amp meter loop—
- Purchase the meter loop from Bluebonnet and we will deliver
and hang it on our pole, at the time of construction.
- Or provide their own meter loop and be responsible for
having the meter loop at the site and completely assembled
according to Bluebonnet specifications, before we begin construction.
If an additional trip is required to hang the loop, then
the Bluebonnet member will be charged an additional fee.
Meter reading
Bluebonnet reads all its electric meters/accounts
daily through an automated meter reading system (TWACS). On occasions, access to our meters and equipment is critical for us to diagnose any problems that we may be having, so please:
- Make sure you provide Bluebonnet with all gate combinations
needed to gain entry to your property.
Meter tampering
Tampering with metering or electrical equipment is illegal, dangerous and costly to all Bluebonnet members. If you suspect someone of tampering with a Bluebonnet meter or other electrical equipment, please let us know.
To report tampering, call 1.800.842.7708.
Meter testing
If you think your electric meter is inaccurate, you can request
a meter test. You can request one test free of charge once
every four years. Your meter can be tested more often than
that, but if your meter is within accuracy standards of plus
or minus 2%, you will be charged $50.00.
To request meter testing, contact
your closest Bluebonnet Member Service Center.
If a meter is found not to register for any period, unless bypassed or tampered with, Bluebonnet shall make a charge for units used, but not metered, for a period not to exceed three
(3) months based on amounts under similar conditions during the period preceding or
subsequent hereto, or during corresponding periods in previous years.
Stopped meter
Per our tariff these procedures will be followed by Bluebonnet:
If a meter is found not to register for any period, unless bypassed or tampered with, the Cooperative shall make a charge for units used, but not metered, for a period no to exceed three
(3) months based on amounts under similar conditions during the period preceding or subsequent thereto, or during corresponding periods in previous years.
Tree trimming
Tree trimming along power lines is a critical service, intended
to:
- help Bluebonnet maintain safe, reliable, ample
and economical electric service to our members; and
- satisfy, within reason, property owners’ desires.
Trees in power lines can interrupt electric service, and
trees in high-voltage lines can be highly dangerous. That’s
why ONLY Bluebonnet crews or authorized agents should
perform tree trimming around Bluebonnet power lines.
Our crews have the experience and expertise required to perform
their tasks safely, while protecting private property.
To request tree trimming, contact
your closest Bluebonnet Member Service Center.
