• Information received from members or an authorized representative through a
service request or related to other services or products provided by Bluebonnet;

In November 2007, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) passed regulations referred to as Red Flag rules, which require certain businesses, including utilities, to identify patterns, practices and activities that indicate the possible existence of identity theft, and to establish a program to identify, mitigate and prevent identity theft. Since Bluebonnet is a creditor that maintains accounts receivable that are incurred primarily for personal, family or household purposes, which may include multiple payments or transactions, it is subject to the Red Flag rules. FTC’s original deadline for enforcement of the Red Flag Rules was January 2008. Although that deadline has most recently been extended to December 31, 2010, Bluebonnet has been in compliance since the original deadline and regularly reviews and updates its policies and procedures to ensure its members’ confidential information is protected and secure. Consequently, members are required to present certain identifying information prior to discussing any account.

Bluebonnet never sells member information to others. Bluebonnet may disclose information about a member when necessary to administer products or services it provides, or when required by law (such as, in response to a subpoena, etc). No third-party non-affiliates have access to member non-public personal information, except pursuant to authorization from the member. Bluebonnet maintains electronic, physical and procedural protections in order to safeguard all information received from its members. Information is accessed by Bluebonnet employees only when necessary and is always treated confidentially.
