Art Guild of Rural Texas Receives $25,000 Grant
(FAYETTEVILLE, TEXAS) The Art Guild of Rural Texas will be able to make some important
renovations with the help of a $25,000.00 community development grant.
The grant, provided by Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative and LCRA, will enable them to purchase new
light fixtures and make other electrical upgrades, level the building, install central air conditioning and
heat, paint the exterior, sheetrock and paint the classrooms, install new cabinets and storage, and make
other miscellaneous repairs.
The Art Guild of Rural Texas provides instruction of art-related educational activities to students 2 days a
week after school. It serves 30-plus students from the Fayetteville area, and provides another forum for
young kids after school that is educational and allows the students to capitalize on their individual talents.
According to Jeanette Brown, the Art Guild’s Board President and acting Executive Director, the grant
will allow them “to make basic, needed repairs and upgrades to the building to make it safer and more
comfortable for the students, and ultimately more appropriate for the program.”
The community grant is one of a number of grants recently awarded through LCRA’s Community
Development Partnership Program. The program provides economic development and community
assistance grants to cities, counties, volunteer fire departments, regional development councils and other
nonprofit organizations in LCRA’s electric and water service areas as part of LCRA’s effort to give back
to the communities it serves. Bluebonnet Electric is one of LCRA’s 42 wholesale electric customers and a
partner in the grant program. |
