Overnight Storms Knock Out Power to Thousands of Bluebonnet Members; Crews Working Around the Clock to Restore Electricity

BASTROP – Severe storms with high winds, lightning and heavy rain swept through Central Texas overnight, knocking out power to more than 6,500 Bluebonnet members. The heaviest damage and largest power outages were in eastern Lee County and Washington County.

“We have all available crews working to restore power to our members as safely and as quickly as possible,” said Mark Rose, Bluebonnet’s general manager. “And if necessary, we will call in contract crews to help get the power back on.

“These storms brought much-needed rain, but also caused a lot of damage from lightning, wind, trees and limbs. The weather is past us and now our crews are working throughout the day to restore power to all our members,” Rose said.

To see current power outages, go to Bluebonnet’s website, www.bluebonnetelectric.coop, and click on the Outage Map box in the middle of the home page. By scrolling over an individual outage, the map provides detailed information about that particular outage, including how many members are without power and how many have been restored since it was reported.
