Bluebonnet Crews Continue to Restore Power to Members Affected by Yesterday’s Severe Storms
BASTROP – Crews from Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative continue working to repair damage caused by yesterday’s severe storms. At 6:30 a.m. Thursday, Bluebonnet reported 18 outages affecting 180 members, primarily in the Washington County area where the strongest storms caused the most damage.
"We greatly appreciate our members' patience while our crews continue working around the clock to restore power," said Mark Rose, Bluebonnet's general manager. "The storms that blew through late Tuesday and early Wednesday were the most severe this area has seen in quite some time. They caused significant damage to our system, especially in the Washington County area."
The storms contained heavy rain and strong winds. Rose said the storms broke power poles and downed lines. In the hardest hit areas, entire sections of power lines were on the ground and had to be completely rebuilt. Bluebonnet expects to have power fully restored to its members by Thursday evening.
Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative is one of the largest electric cooperatives in Texas and has been serving its members since 1939.
