Bluebonnet Contributes over $58,000 for Defibrillators
January 11, 2007
(GIDDINGS, TEXAS) Eighteen school districts in Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative's service area received money this week to assist in purchasing Automated External Defibrillators (AED) for their campuses.
The funds, provided by the Bluebonnet Board of Directors, were distributed to Bastrop, Brenham, Burton, Caldwell, Dime Box, Elgin, Fayetteville, Giddings, Lexington, Lockhart, Luling, Manor, McDade, Prairie Lea, Round Top-Carmine, Smithville, Snook and Sommerville ISD's.
In October 2006, Lt. Governor Dewhurst announced a major initiative to put life-saving AED's in all Texas public schools. In response, Bluebonnet visited all the school districts in the service area to determine how many of our schools were without these devices. The money provided to the local school districts ensures that over twenty-five more of these devices will be available in our communities. “This initiative came from the Board of Directors,” said CEO/General Manager Mark Rose. “Safety and Community are two of our Foundation Values at Bluebonnet and we are excited to support the Lt. Governor's initiative.” |
