Bluebonnet Repairing Storm Damage

January 17, 2007

(GIDDINGS, TEXAS) Crews from Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative are responding to outages caused by the ice that has accumulated throughout the service area since late Tuesday, January 16, 2007. Service has been restored to 3292 residences and businesses since midnight and approximately 609 entities are still without power. Repairs are expected to be completed by 8:00 am. Currently the areas experiencing the most outages are Bastrop and Brenham. Throughout the area, a number of outages have been caused by weakened trees and tree limbs falling on distribution lines. In other instances, the weight of the ice itself made
lines sag or touch the ground. “Our high maintenance standards on lines and equipment have helped to prevent even more outages, and
well-trained employees are responding to the outages quickly,” said Mark Rose, general manager/CEO of Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative.
