Receives $5,000 Donation

(GIDDINGS, TEXAS) A $5,000 donation by Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative will put the M. D. Anderson Cancer Center closer to their mission of eliminating cancer. The Virginia Harris Cockrell Cancer Research Center, Science Park - Research Division, is a basic cancer research component of The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center . The Science Park - Research Division is located in the Lost Pines area of Bastrop County near Smithville, Texas.
“We appreciate very much the support we continue to receive from Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative for our research into the causes and prevention of cancer. We are very excited about the proposed project that will further our studies into the effect of natural food components in modulating epithelial carcinogenesis,” states John DiGiovanni, Ph.D., Professor and Chair, Department of Carcinogenesis Director, Science Park – Research Division, Virginia Harris Cockrell Cancer Research Center.
A part of the Central Texas community since 1977, the Science Park - Research Division provides an ideal setting for scientific research, education, conferences and workshops. Since its inception, this campus has developed steadily in size and is now recognized as a world leader in research on carcinogenesis (the origins of cancer) and cancer prevention. |
