June 4, 2007
(BASTROP, TEXAS) Crews from Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative are responding to outages caused by major lightning and heavy rain that swept through the Bastrop and Lockhart areas June 3, 2007. Service has been restored to 3,700 residences and businesses. Approximately 700 buildings and residences were without power as of 6:00 am, June 4, 2007. Bluebonnet is expected to complete repairs by 10:30 am. The hardest hit areas were Bastrop and Lockhart. In many instances, weakened trees and tree limbs pressed against distribution lines. “Our high maintenance standards on rights-of-way, electric lines and equipment helped prevent even more outages, and well-trained employees and contractors rallied to the challenge when the storm came,” said Mark Rose, Bluebonnet General Manager/CEO.
