Bluebonnet Golf Tournament Raises
Money for Scholarships

January 3, 2006

(GIDDINGS, TEXAS) On June 8, Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative held its second annual Trade and Technical Scholarship Golf Tournament at Pine Forest Golf Club in Bastrop. A total of 128 players participated in the tournament, the proceeds of which will go toward Bluebonnet’s trade and technical school scholarship program. The combined funds raised from both this and last year’s tournament will enable Bluebonnet to issue at least 10 scholarships, in the sum of $1,200 each, for students to attend trade or technical schools in 2007. “We are extremely proud that we were able to raise this money and provide more scholarships for the youth in the communities we serve,” said Bluebonnet General Manager and CEO Mark Rose. This new scholarship program will complement Bluebonnet’s Scholarship of Excellence program, which already provided 12 scholarships to high school seniors this year. The new scholarships are focused on helping students who want to learn a trade or expand their knowledge of various technologies, instead of focusing strictly on academics. With both of these scholarship programs now in place, Bluebonnet hopes to provide at least 22 scholarships next year.
