The City of Fayetteville Receives $20,000 Grant
August 1 , 2006
(GIDDINGS, TEXAS) The City of Fayetteville will be able to refurbish their old fire station, located on the downtown square, into a Visitor Center and community meeting room with the help of a $25,000 community development grant. The grant, provided by Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative and the Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA), will enable them to make better use of a preexisting space, by turning the old fire station into a much needed Visitor Center. With tourism in Fayetteville continually growing, the need for a place where visitors can rest as well as learn more about the area has become even greater. The Visitor Center will provide an information center to assist travelers and 24 hour restroom facilities. “Our citizens, along with our many visitors and tourists passing through, will receive many benefits from the Fayetteville Visitor Center,” said Mayor Ronnie Pflughaupt. “Attractive, well maintained facilities will lure return visitors and create an atmosphere for economic stability in the community.” The community grant is one of a number of grants recently awarded through LCRA's Community Development Partnership Program. The program provides economic development and community assistance grants to cities, counties, volunteer fire departments, regional development councils and other nonprofit organizations in LCRA's electric and water service areas as part of LCRA's effort to give back to the communities it serves. Bluebonnet is one of LCRA's 42 wholesale electric customers and a partner in the grant program.
