Bluebonnet Reorganizing

August 22 , 2006

(GIDDINGS, TEXAS) In conjunction with the creation of a new five year strategic plan, Bluebonnet Electric Cooperative, Inc. unveiled its new System Operations Division organization this week. The new strategic plan focuses on three areas of the business: Member Service, Employees and Financials. “This year brings to a close a five year strategic plan that focused on improving the infrastructure and putting the technology in place to ensure state-of-the-art service to our growing membership for the next 25 years, without expensive repair or maintenance costs,” said Mark Rose, General Manager/CEO. “Now we must focus on how we are providing service and how effective our organizational structure is today. It has become clear to us that we must streamline our operations in order to stay competitive on rates and services.” The new structure has merged multiple departments into three departments focused on construction,
maintenance and outage restoration. It has been many years since the division underwent its last thorough review and reorganization. With the completion of the last five-year plan and the new focus of the cooperative, a fundamental review of every position and process was performed by the management and staff. The review and reorganization identified approximately 20 positions that will be eliminated within the division. “We have a commitment to our members to be efficient and effective in providing electric service,” said Rose. “We also have a commitment to our employees to provide a safe and stable working environment. We will make every effort to be fair and to help anyone whose position has been eliminated as a result of this reorganization.
The cooperative has been providing Central Texans with affordable, reliable electricity for almost 70 years and all of our diligent work and dedication stems from one central truth: we are our members. We live and work here too. The positions that have been eliminated are currently held by our friends, our neighbors and in some cases our relatives. This will be one of the hardest things we’ve ever had to do.” Bluebonnet’s new strategic plan will be presented to the Board of Directors this fall along with budget recommendations for 2007. The cooperative is committed to keeping its electric rates competitive, providing reliable electric service and excellent member service.
